LEGAL COUNSEL (f/m) Contracting & Compliance – RENEWABLES

We have been instructed by a global energy company dedicated to the renewables sector. Due to growing business a newly created position in the legal department is offering an exciting job in the area of contracting and compliance in an international work environment. The position will require travel throughout Germany and occasional travel internationally. Reporting is to the VP Legal.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide hands-on legal support for Sales & Service and advise where necessary on solutions
  • Review, draft and negotiate sales and service contracts
  • Help ensure that compliance requirements are in line with company guidelines/standards and internal processes as well as with applicable legislation
  • Analyze complex legal cases, including risk-assessment and elaborate on solutions for risk mitigation
  • Assigning, managing and cooperating with well-established law-firms in the local markets
  • Controlling and reporting to management

 QUALIFICATIONS

  • German-qualified attorney with a minimum of 5+ years relevant post qualification-experience either in an international law firm or in-house legal department
  • In-depth knowledge of energy law, construction law and related contract law
  • Additional expertise on corporate law is an asset
  • Hands-on experience in drafting and negotiating agreements

SENIOR COUNSEL – GERMANY

We have been instructed by a Fortune 250 company with global operations. The senior role, which is newly created due to growing business, will require travel throughout Germany and occasional travel internationally. Reporting is to the General Counsel EMEA.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Be a member of our front-line German legal team
  • Provide hands-on legal support for acquisitions, joint ventures and other transactions
  • Provide/coordinate legal advice on employment and data privacy matters
  • Counsel and advise on legal risks and help manage them; step into the role of a strategic partner of our German management team
  • Help ensure, in cooperation with the company’s Compliance function, that our German operations are in line with compliance-related laws and regulations
  • Be a part of our global legal function

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • German-qualified attorney-at-law with strong academic record and a minimum of 10 years relevant post-qualification experience, ideally both at a respectable international law firm and in-house at a larger, ideally multinational enterprise
  • Extensive transactional experience and in-depth knowledge of corporate and employment law
  • Substantial hands-on experience in drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements, ideally in a regulated industry
  • Practical experience in dealing with works councils and trade unions required
  • Experience in dealing with US companies required
  • International experience required
  • Familiarity with/willingness to get up to speed on privacy/data protection laws required
